Artist Guidelines

Anissa Mack's artworks emphasize quality and a genuine relationship with the viewers. She invites people to join the dialogue while viewing her works, which are not always located in galleries. In her 2002 project 'Pies for a Passerby,' Anissa Mack baked apple pies in front of the Brooklyn Public Library and placed them on a cottage windowsill for people to take. The project explores what happens when you place a classic image of small-town America in the Big Apple. The New York Times wrote, 'It’s an idea of testing the icon and seeing how it does in practice.' Ms. Mack has exhibited and performed at sites including the Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, NY; P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, Queens, NY; San Francisco Institute for the Arts, San Francisco, CA; and The Pineapple Project Room, Malmö, Sweden.
