Bill
Schuck surrounds the viewer with a cycle of "paintings"
or framed panels mounted on the wall. In his text, he
calls forth the vast changes in the landscape that enable
us to enjoy this place today and evokes the memory of
those who have witnessed this same vista. The words
incised onto the panels are planted with prairie grass
seeds. There are a total of ten panels in the group;
five will be introduced in mid-July. The murmuring sound
of the entire cycle emanates from the fireplace. For
this project, Schuck immersed himself in the history
of the land stretching back to the geological formation
of the Palisades and the Hudson River.
