Waste Match
NYC’s materials exchange and solid waste reduction program. They help clients reduce the waste disposal costs, obtain raw materials for free. The material exchange program is a free service that matches generators of valuable commercial waste and surplus goods with organizations that can reuse them. Waste producers sell what they once paid to throw away; re-users obtain materials for free or at low prices.

Bronx Council on Environmental Quality
The community council sponsors local symposia, tree plantings, restoration activities, and beach clean-ups, and other events that promote involvement and awareness about intelligent land use, waste management programs that reduce pollution, and conservation.

The Bronx River Alliance
The alliance manages the Bronx River Corridor along with the City of NY Parks and Recreation Dept., and works to protect, improve and restore the corridor and greenway for the benefit of the community through which it flows.  This website is also a resource for information on the natural and social history of the Bronx River corridor and the plants and animals that inhabit it.

The Brooklyn Botanical Garden
The Garden offers educational programming for adults, teachers, children and families. In the Children’s Adventure Garden, there are biology classes for kids in the Summer Science Adventure series, seed planting classes for little ones, City Farmers classes and multicultural and ecological explorations for older ones.  Brooklyn Greenbridge is a community horticultural program that shares the resources of BBG (like composting programs) with the surrounding neighborhoods.

The New York Botanical Garden
In addition to the visitor’s grounds, the Garden offers extensive continuing education programs to adults, from summer intensives in horticulture therapy, landscape design, and Botanical Art and Illustration to workshops in using art-based techniques to explore the scientific dimensions of plants. Is also the home of the International Plant Science Center.
