| Robert
Kalka is interested in observation, time and atmosphere.
In his sculpture, In A Real Dark Night Of The
Soul It Is Always 3 O'clock In The Morning,
three plain houses, each accompanied by a bare tree
are contained within a deep blue vitrine. Time seems
to stand still in this calm and dreamy setting. The
confined setting explores the dimensions of our highly
centralized and complex civilization.
Robert Kalka has exhibited widely in New York, recently
participating in Shangri-La , Islip Art Museum,
Islip, NY (2003). In 2001, he initiated the ongoing
project “Wallspace”, an exhibition opportunity for emerging
artists at the offices of David Bers Architecture, New
York, NY. He has received honors and awards such as
a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant. |
