| Immediately
recognizable as a photographic landscape, Kim Keever’s
Blue Delta challenges our notion of reality.
The mysterious landscape is not found in nature, but
originates in Keever’s imagination. He improvises
miniature environments that are built in large glass
aquariums filled with 100 gallons of water. He injects
dye into the water, allowing the color to create unpredictable
changes. Keever not only captures the evolving atmosphere,
but also translates the shift in scale from a contained
area into an expansive landscape with his camera lens.
Kim Keever recently exhibited in skies & scapes
at the DFN Gallery, New, NY (2004) and Images
of Time and Place: Contemporary Views of Landscapes
at the Lehman College Art Gallery, Bronx, NY (2004).
His next solo show is at David Floria Gallery in Aspen,
CO, opening in early August. Museum collections include
the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; Museum of Modern
Art, NY; Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, NY; Hirshhorn
Museum, Washington, DC; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts,
Richmond, VA, as well as several others. More information
