Leslie Fry’s hybrids in Quercus Emancipation animate the room, compelled by a mysterious regenerating energy, a desire to be released from static positions in the decor. The acorn head in the center of the room is encrusted with all forms of ornament used in the room including the acorn and oak leaf motif ornamenting the mantelpiece. It points toward the window to the red oak Quercus rubra on the hill beyond. The acorns assembled by the window seem intent on returning to the garden or the woods to burrow into the earth and regenerate.  www.lesliefry.com
