| Lisa Hein & Bob Seng’s Nimbus is located on the terrace behind Glyndor Gallery. A group of silver mylar balloons hover together to form a cloud. The cloud appears to be trapped under the awning, or hiding from the sun. Depending on the weather, it hangs heavy and still, flutters carelessly, or sails in unison. As with their other installations, the artists insert an enigmatic arrangement into an architectural setting that doesn’t always behave as expected.
Lisa Hein and Bob Seng have collaborated on many outdoor installations including Dust Bustier, Dust, Las Vegas, NV; Float at Evergreen House, Baltimore, MD; and Two Pools at Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, NY. Other venues include Exit Art, Art in General, and Andrew Kreps, all in New York, NY; Three Rivers Arts Festival, Pittsburgh, PA; Schroeder Romero Gallery, and Flipside, both in Brooklyn, NY. They received an Architecture Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2000.
