Lisa Young

Calendar, 2003

detail

Calendar documents Lisa Young’s morning ritual of photographing the sky when she awoke each day in 2001. The 365 photos are arranged in twelve groups to align with each month of the year. The work underscores changing color and density of the sky as the fleeting weather is documented from day to day. This serial work, which is both documentary and personal, is made possible only through the underlying action of the artist’s daily record.

Lisa Young’s work has been exhibited in a number of venues in New York and New England including the Art Institute of Boston, Boston, MA; Flux Factory, Queens, NY; Asian-American Art Center, New York, NY, and the University of Rhode Island, North Kingston, RI. She has completed projects for Atopia Journal 3.66, and Cabinet, Issue No. 6. Her artist’s book, past/imperfect, is distributed by Printed Matter, New York, NY.
