Primacy Through Experience, a series of drawings by Luis Serrano. Having recently moved from Los Angeles to New York, Mr. Serrano has worked directly from nature in Riverside Park and Morningside Park since last fall. Each drawing is done entirely on site, and represents Mr. Serrano's desire to convey a sense of time and place in which the work is created. Both sites offer organic development of natural growth patterns that provide intricacies of design and the element of psychological surprise. The visible appearance of the natural setting allow for meditation and contemplation. The pattern evidenced in the landscape serves as a complex data set that allow for the materialization of “SEEING” through cumulative mark-making. These works relate to perception and strive to achieve a balance between the physical and the spiritual.

Primacy Through Experience is Mr. Serrano's first exhibition in New York. He has exhibited at the Dan Saxon Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Kay Kimpton Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Koplin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; and the Leband Art Gallery, Los Angeles, CA.
