Rebecca Belmore explores the permeable, geographic boundaries of nationhood and the power that humans attempt to wield over nature. Large, heavy cross-cuts of wood are arranged in the gallery, seemingly supported by clusters of numerous, ordinary light bulbs. The power cables are ornamented with red, white and blue fabric covers. The tension between the weight of the wood, the light emanating from below, and the decorative covers comments on this elusive quest for power, both power over nature and political power.
