Ruth Marshall knits textiles that are inspired by the message of wildlife conservation and the range of expression in the spots and stripes on the coats of endangered wildcats. Born in Melbourne, Australia, Marshall received her MFA in sculpture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. In 2010 she participated in the Open Studios Program at the Museum of Art & Design. Her knitted pelts and skins have been exhibited in a number of group and solo shows at institutions such as the San Jose Museum; Museum of Art & Design, New York; and Dam, Stuhltrager Gallery, Berlin. She is the recipient of the Anne & Gordon International Visual Arts Scholarship and BRIO Award from the Bronx Council on the Arts. Her work is included in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Yale University and Columbia University.
