Sharon
Louden’s work gives character to individual gestures
through the illusion of movement and placement. Visitors
walk along Wave Hill’s woodland path and find
three Yellowtails mysteriously hanging from
tree branches. By mixing the vibrant yellow, highly
visible monofilament lines with the subtle clear ones
the four tails will catch the light and bring more intrigue
to the grounds. The gentle sway of Yellowtails
in the breeze is representative of the simple lines
observed in motion and nature.
Sharon Louden has shown extensively throughout her career
with an upcoming solo exhibition at the Neuberger Museum
of Art, Purchase, NY, next year. In 2004, she was awarded
the UrbanGlass Established Visiting Artist Fellowship.
Museum and corporate collections include National Gallery
of Art, Washington, DC; Yale University Art Gallery,
New Haven, CT; The Progressive Corporation, Mayfield
Village, OH, and Yahoo! Corporate Headquarters, Sunnyvale,
CA. Her website is www.sharonlouden.com. |
