This year’s distinguished lecturers explore different takes on building gardens, offering a nuanced perspective on the perceived tension between the fields of landscape architecture and garden design.
Wednesday, January 18, 2012, Larry J. Wente, a partner in the design firm Gertler & Wente Architects LLP – and known at Wave Hill for spearheading the restoration of Wave Hill's historic Marco Polo Stufano Conservatory – delivers the first lecture in the 2012 series. He is followed, on February 22, 2012, by Barbara Paul Robinson, who describes a life-changing sabbatical from her law firm, Debevoise & Plimpton, to work as a gardener for Rosemary Verey at Barnsley House in Gloucestershire, England. The last lecture in the 2012 series is provided by landscape architect Thomas L. Woltz on March 21, 2012. A partner of Nelson Byrd Woltz, he has led designs for institutional and corporate projects here and abroad, as well as gardens and farmland.
