Glorious and majestic, trees abound in the gardens of Wave Hill. They fill us with joy; they bring us peace and serenity; and they symbolize our collective perseverance and renewal. Honoring and drawing strength from Wave Hill’s great and wonderful arboreal treasure, we proclaimed 2009 Year of the Trees.
Celebrating Wave Hill’s trees channels us to conserve and cultivate these living legends in our landscape. During the Year of the Trees, a formal survey of our trees and vistas was undertaken to develop a planting and maintenance plan for the next 100 years. This work is important, and the serious side of our celebration yields a thrilling context this year for a wealth of interesting and whimsical programming for all ages and interests.
