A public garden & cultural center

2013 Annual Appeal

For those of us who enjoy every minute we spend at Wave Hill, it is so clear that this transformative place is many different things to many different people. For some, Wave Hill serves as a refuge from their hectic lives. For others, it is an opportunity to bring their families—and themselves—closer to nature. And during difficult times we are a calming haven for those seeking peace and serenity.

As a recent visitor described, Wave Hill truly is an “oasis” in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world. And we are serving more people than ever before. In fact, attendance at our free, weekend Family Art Project has soared by 20 percent over the last year, the highest number in the program’s 22-year history. More schools than ever are participating in our enriching educational programs—with most students coming from low-income households in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan—and more visitors are enjoying the tranquility and beauty of Wave Hill’s renowned gardens.

As we look to 2013, we eagerly anticipate the long-awaited re-opening of our beloved, newly-renovated Wave Hill House this summer, with gracious new amenities that will enable us to better serve all of our visitors. These include a revitalized Sally and Gilbert Kerlin Learning Center and a new Sarah and Geoffrey Gund Learning Theater, an upgraded and welcoming Armor Hall and an expanded Café. But none of this would be possible without the support of our friends and members.
