Trees are the cornerstone of Wave Hill's landscape. They create a stable backdrop for the ever-changing gardens, frame the view, offer food and shelter for wildlife and provide cooling shade for reposing visitors. Highlights from our living collection include copper beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Atropurpurea'), American elm (Ulmus americana), sugar maple (Acer saccharum), cutleaf staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina 'Laciniata'), dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides), dove tree (Davidia involucrata) and bigleaf magnolia (Magnolia macrophylla).

A Self-Guided Tree Tour brochure is available in the Perkins Visitor Center.
