2011 Gardeners’ Party

The 2011 Gardeners’ Party was a great success! 250 horticulture professionals and enthusiasts gathered to revel in the early fall beauty of the gardens and support Wave Hill.

The Gardeners’ Party honored the twentieth year of the John Nally Garden Intern Program, celebrating the program’s achievements and its champions, Meg and Austin Buck, avid gardeners and ardent, longtime supporters of public horticulture at Wave Hill and beyond.

Named for former Curator of the Garden John Nally, a consummate plantsman and dedicated hands-on gardener, the Nally internship was established in his memory to provide practical training for tomorrow's garden artists. Over the last 20 years, graduates of the program have gone on to work in the metropolitan area’s sister public gardens as well as gardens, arboreta, nurseries and estates nationwide.

More than 20 of the program’s 50 alumni were in attendance at the Gardeners’ Party. It was a fine opportunity to salute all the Nally Interns and Meg and Austin Buck for their contributions to the field of public horticulture.
A wonderful time was had by all at the party. And despite a dreary forecast, the rain never came!
