  • Tandem Pursuits: Armor & Ichthyology

    Tandem Pursuits: Armor & Ichthyology

    Glyndor Gallery | September 15 - December 01, 2013

Tandem Pursuits is inspired by Bashford Dean, a resident of Wave Hill House from 1909 until his death in 1928 at the age of 61. At the start of his residence here, Dean was Curator of Arms and Armor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; and Curator of Fish at the American Museum of Natural History. The intersection of his interest in both fish and armor provides the opportunity to bring together a remarkable collection of contemporary art that explores concepts of adaptation, pattern, and protection. The exhibition includes installation, painting, sculpture, drawing and video by artists WonJung Choi, Amisha Gadani, Frank Gehry, Carol Hepper, Camilla Huey, Simone Leigh, Michelle Jaffe, Irvin Morazan, Kymia Nawabi, James Prosek, Christy Rupp, Lytle Shaw & Jimbo Blachly, Ben Snead, Holly Sumner, Marina Zurkow.

  • Winter Workspace 2013

    Winter Workspace 2013

    Glyndor Gallery | January 02 - March 24, 2013

Now in its fourth year, Wave Hill’s Winter Workspace Program transforms Glyndor Gallery into a space for artists to create new work and develop ongoing projects. Twelve artists, representing an array of artistic practices, will be in residence over two, six-week sessions, from early January until late March, 2013. Each of the two sessions include an Open Studio Sunday, and a series of artist-led workshops for visitors. At these events, artists engage with the public, giving visitors the opportunity to learn about the creative process behind each studio art project and hands-on workshop.

The Arts at Wave Hill are supported by Lily Auchincloss Foundation, Inc., Milton & Sally Avery Arts Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and by the Cathy and Stephen Weinroth Commissioning Fund for the Arts.
