Concert: I Go on Singing: Paul Robeson's Life in Song
Wave Hill House
Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by attending Wave Hill’s presentation of I Go On Singing: Paul Robeson’s Life in Song. This concert captures the essence of another monumental 20th-century figure. Robeson was an all-American athlete, scholar, international recording artist and star of stage and screen. Regarded as the best-known African American entertainer in the world during his lifetime, he, like King, was also a courageous example of integrity and discipline in service of peace. The concert combines song (including “Old Man River”), narratives, news clips and excerpts from an interview with Robeson’s friend, the legendary folksinger/ songwriter Pete Seeger. Robeson is portrayed by American baritone Anthony Brown, about whom The Denver Post has declared that “Brown delivers with generous beauty.” The pianist for the performance is Charles Pettaway, and the narrator is Claudine Bryant. Performances begin at 2PM and last approximately one hour with no intermission.
Ticket prices: Adults $28/$22 Wave Hill Member, Children (ages 8-18) $15/$12. Order tickets online or onsite at the Perkins Visitors Center. For additional information, please call 718.549.3200 x251.
