Part-time Gallery Greeter
Engaging visitors and providing staff support
Wave Hill is seeking a temporary, part-time Gallery Greeter to work three days/week from April 30 through November 29, 2026. The contemporary art exhibitions on view will include David Antonio Cruz: iknowyou'vewonderedwherei'vebeen; adrift,astare,atilt,asigh,exhale (May 1–Aug 9) and an exhibition of interdisciplinary, collaborative projects by Angel Nevarez & Valerie Tevere (Aug 29–Nov 29). There will also be a rotation of six solo exhibitions as part of the Sunroom Project Space program.
This part-time, temporary position may be of particular interest to art, art history, or arts administration students. The position reports to the Curator of Visual Arts and also works with the Director of Arts & Chief Curator, and Curatorial Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing the gallery and managing AV equipment as part of the exhibition
- Greeting visitors to the gallery, orienting them as needed, engaging with them about the artwork on view, and ensuring that visitors are respectful of the art
- Monitoring and assisting with the care of the artworks and the gallery spaces
- Leading public and private gallery tours. The greeter will prepare and design gallery tours based on information provided by the curators about the exhibitions, artists, and artworks, as well as their own additional research.
- Collecting and recording visitor information and gallery attendance figures.
- Providing light administrative support, such as clerical and organizational tasks, data entry, and occasional research projects
- Ensuring that Wave Hill’s health and safety protocols are followed
Requirements
Must be reliable and committed to the program, enthusiastic about the nature of the work, able to take initiative, and have strong interpersonal skills. Experience and comfort working with the public and a knowledge of contemporary art is essential. Must have experience as a docent or giving tours and/or public talks on art. Basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and comfort with data entry are required.
Dates & Schedule
This part-time position requires availability three days a week, including one weekend day. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday; two Gallery Greeters are scheduled for three days each. The hours are from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm with a half-hour unpaid lunch period. Candidates must be able to work from April 30 through November 29, 2026.
Salary
The hourly rate for this position is $19.00.
