Junior IT Support Specialist

The Junior IT Support Specialist will provide on-site technical support to staff across Wave Hill’s buildings and outdoor areas. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining IT systems, and supporting users across the organization. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills and a passion for helping others navigate technology. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Information Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and conferencing equipment.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including account setup, device provisioning, and orientation support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation (procedures, inventory, configurations).
  • Monitor systems and proactively identify issues or areas for improvement.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and other cloud-based services.
  • Collaborate with vendors and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, data protection, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Participate in IT projects (upgrades, migrations, and security improvements).
  • Train staff on digital tools and basic troubleshooting.
  • Assist with AV setups for meetings and events.
  • Provide on-site field support across buildings and outdoor areas.
  • Lift and transport IT equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of IT support/help desk experience.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCSA, or ITIL are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and basic Linux environments.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and tools (e.g., antivirus, firewalls, MFA).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
     

Salary

  • Full-time, exempt position, annual salary range is $65,000 – $70,000.
  • Monday – Friday with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.
