Maintainer
Helping maintain Wave Hill's unique, historic buildings and grounds
The Maintenance Department is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic person with experience in preventive maintenance of historic buildings. The department is responsible for the preventive maintenance of three historic buildings and surrounding areas throughout the garden. The department also maintains the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, power and water systems for each building.

Job Requirements:
- Ability to solve most maintenance issues
- Skilled in a broad range of maintenance disciplines
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- 1–2 years of experience with basic maintenance of low-pressure hot water boiler systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work on maintenance projects
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance for historic buildings, including:
- Carpentry
- Electrical work
- Masonry
- Painting
- Availability for emergency response duties
- Have a flexible schedule to include weekend, evenings and holidays
Qualifications
- Minimum three years’ experience in maintenance
- Familiarity with the operation of power and hand tools
- A valid driver’s license in good standings is required
- Willingness to work outdoors under all weather conditions
- Ability to work alone and with others in a team-based organization
- Certification in construction preferred not required
Benefits, Salary and Schedule:
This position is under a collective bargaining agreement.
- Full-time; Non-exempt
- 5 days a week. 35 hours a week; Weekend rotation and split days off
- Annual Salary: $53,997
