Shrub Borders in front of Glyndor Gallery
Sheltered Beds
The front side of Glyndor Gallery offers protection from cold winds and strong winter sunlight, making it a hospitable spot in the coldest season of the year.
A variety of evergreen shrubs and other semi-hardy plants thrive in the sheltered beds afforded by Glyndor Gallery's entrance on the east side of the building.Scented blooms are to be found at various times through the season. Tiny, white flowers of osmanthus appear in late fall and, during mild, midwinter spells, wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox) perfumes the air near the front door.
The plump, clustered buds on the paperbush (Edgeworthia chrysantha) survive even the coldest weather and open into tiny, pale-yellow trumpets in late winter, long before its leaves unfurl in spring.
Dwarf Sweet Box
This low-growing evergreen shrub blooms in late winter or very early spring, its flowers small, white and very fragrant.
