Session Options

Our Pre-K programs are designed specifically for young learners, with single-session or two-session options. For the single session program, the location is your choice.

The two-session program will take place with the first session in your classroom and the second at Wave Hill. During session one, our educators engage your students with a mix of songs, stories and hands-on activities. Session two is a learning adventure, where students experience the wonders of nature first-hand and create their own craft project to take home.

Avian Adventures

Seasons offered: Fall, Spring and Summer at Wave Hill; Winter (in your classroom)

In your classroom, students explore objects and artifacts, and learn about how birds live in their environment through song and movement. The session ends with a story about some of the different birds your students may meet on a visit to Wave Hill or a local park!

At Wave Hill, students practice using binoculars and picture guides to observe birds in their natural setting. This is followed by an indoor art-making project where students create their own birds using Model Magic and feathers.

Seeds We Need

Seasons offered: Fall, Spring and Summer at Wave Hill; Winter (in your classroom)

In your classroom, students are introduced to seeds, why they are important, and what they need to grow using interactive songs and stories. Students explore the ways that seeds travel to find their homes through body movement and the observation of various seed species.

At Wave Hill, students review what seeds need in order to grow and explore the parts of a plant. A walk through the grounds invites investigation of some of the many different shapes and sizes of seeds and the plants they come from. As a culminating activity, students use seeds to make their own mosaic.
