The mint family contains some of our most popular garden plants, and most important medicines. With over 6,000 different species, this plant family has an impressive presence in our daily lives. Move beyond peppermint and lavender as we get to know some of our native wild mint family herbs, their unique personalities and delicious ways to use them in food, skincare and medicinal preparations. Tastings, recipes and a potted mint plant included, plus one remedy made in class for use at home.

Wave Hill House is wheelchair-accessible. There is an accessible, ground-level entrance at the front of the building with a power-assist door. The restroom on the ground level is all-gender and ADA-compliant. Additional ADA-compliant restrooms are available on the lower level, which can be accessed by elevator. The Toscanini Room is located on the second floor of Wave Hill House; an elevator is available. The doorway into the Toscanini Room on that floor is only 34 inches wide; some wheelchairs will find it difficult to enter that space

Dawn Petter

Dawn Petter is a clinical herbalist and flower essence practitioner based in New York City. She is a graduate of Arbor Vitae School of Traditional Herbalism and is trained as a flower essence practitioner with Delta Gardens and Findhorn Essences. Dawn offers in-depth health consults and custom formulated remedies for her clients. She teaches classes, retreats and leads botanical walks at institutions and corporations including, the NY, Brooklyn and Chicago Botanic Gardens, Atlassian, SS+K, and Wework, to name a few. She is also a regular instructor at Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico. Her classes are imaginative, and accessible, and encourage students to use herbal medicine in everyday life. Dawn is the owner of Petalune Herbals which specializes in wild and organic herbal skincare.
