2022 Horticultural Lecture: Little Island–A Garden Rises

After construction was completed on Hudson River Park's ambitious Little Island on Pier 55, Liman Cheng had the rare opportunity to work in a totally novel landscape as one of its three, full-time horticulturalists. Tasked with caring for gardens in a unique built environment, Cheng had a year of careful observation, discovering how plants performed and how the public interacted with them. His talk will describe the experience, and the journey in gardening—from private gardens and green-roof projects—that led him there. Prior to horticulture, Cheng was an artists' agent and global executive producer on advertising for high-end brands. Now he combines his love of art with nature.
