Butterflies in the Garden Walk

Meet at Perkins Visitor Center

Monarch butterflies are one of the few insects that migrate south to warmer climates for the winter, and they’ll be passing through the Bronx in September. Join naturalist Jay Holmes on a quest to see monarchs and other late-season butterfly species in the gardens of Wave Hill. Ages 10 and older welcome with an adult. Space is limited. This event also takes place at 3PM. Bees, Butterflies & Blooms Weekend event.
Registration is not required. Bees, Butterflies & Blooms Weekend is a premium-admission weekend, with a $2 surcharge per visitor; there is no admission charge for children under six.

Jay Holmes
Jay Holmes is currently the Senior Manager of Urban Advantage Professional Development at the American Museum of Natural History, where he partners with eight science institutions in New York City. Jay delivers courses for teachers in earth science, ecology and evolution. He joined the AMNH in 1992 as a lecturer and has worked with teens in a variety of roles before joining the UA team in 2004.
