The Great Lawn transforms into a dance party during this lively celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! Host and dance instructor Talia Castro-Pozo guides you through the steps of traditional styles of dance like salsa, samba, and cha-cha. As you master the moves, enjoy live music by Santiago y La Orquesta and take in the magnificent views of the Palisades and Hudson River. All ages and levels of dance experience are welcome. 

Advance tickets encouraged but not required. 

In case of rain or inclement weather, this event will move indoors to Wave Hill House. Guests with "Rain or Shine" tickets will receive priority seating indoors. Guests with "Shine Only" tickets and unregistered guests are welcome to attend if space allows, but seating is not guaranteed indoors.

The Great Lawn is a flat grassy area accessible via flat, paved paths. Wave Hill House is wheelchair-accessible. There is an accessible, ground-level entrance at the front of the building with a power-assist door. The restroom on the ground level is all-gender and ADA-compliant. Additional ADA-compliant restrooms are available on the lower level, which can be accessed by elevator.

    Formerly, “Peruvian Ballet Representative to the World,” Talia represented Peru in the most prestigious ballet competitions around the globe.

    Talía started dancing at the age of three, becoming the youngest soloist to join the National Ballet of Peru at age 14. She attended the prestigious School of American Ballet and graduated from the William Esper Studio, where she studied acting under Bill Esper. Talia’s acting, dancing and choreography have been featured in numerous films, TV shows, commercials and other productions, including Fleishman is in Trouble, The Godfather of Harlem, Falling in Rhythm, Summer of Sam and Tango Finish. She has trained professional dancers in partner dancing, including Broadway dancers for choreographer Christopher Gattelli. Talia has also managed numerous iconic dance studios in NYC and has taught master classes at BDC, Lincoln Center, Columbia University, NYU. She has been featured on NBC’s The Today Show with Patrick Swayze, Tiki Barber, Marc Anthony, Pitbull, The New York Times, ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS, Univision, Telemundo, and celebrated as “The Woman of Salsa” by Latina Magazine.

    She is the producer of Latin Mondays at Taj celebrating 18 years, Sunset Salsa with Talia, Bryant Park Dance Party & Midtown Dance, and a member of the International Dance Council & Board Director of the Unspoken Smiles Foundation helping children at risk help develop healthy habits for life & Board Member of Ballroom Basix USA providing school children physical, social, emotional and cultural engagement through dance serving more than 20,000 school children in over a hundred NYC schools.

    Santiago y La Orquesta was launched in 2025 by Santiago “Sachy” Moyano, lead singer, multi-instrumentalist, and musical director with over 20 years in the Latin music industry when they debuted with the single Salsa y Ritmo, co-produced by multi-Grammy winner Luis “Luisito” Quintero. Trained in composition and arranging (Universidad Incca de Colombia) with additional studies in music theory and piano, he has built an international career as a prominent figure in salsa.  

    Santiago has been the lead vocalist for iconic groups such as Sonora Carruseles and Fruko y sus Tesos, performing on prestigious stages and major festivals worldwide alongside artists like Rubén Blades, Óscar D’León, and Jerry Rivera. His versatility has led to collaborations with legendary musicians and international tours across the Americas, Europe, and the U.S., including projects with Tony Succar, Jaime Lozano, Geordie Greep, and Dickey Betts' Great Southern Group. He has appeared at Bryant Park’s Dance Party: Greatest Salsa Hits of All-Time, Lincoln Center’s “Bailamos,” the Festival Colombiano del Aguardiente Blanco, and Berklee College of Music’s salsa showcase, representing modern salsa at some of the most prestigious cultural stages. Currently, Santiago continues to perform live in New York while working on his first full-length album, furthering his innovative approach to salsa and bringing his music to a global audience.
