Meet the Artist: Hyunjin Park
- Virtual
Join us online for a virtual walkthrough of Hyunjin Park’s Sunroom exhibition Jump! with the artist and Curator of Visual Arts Rachel Raphaela Gugelberger. Centered on the core obstacle in dog agility courses—“jumps”—and her training of her pet Echo, a dog operated by AI, the program will focus on Park’s exploration of the affective impact of the non-human—plants, living beings, and machines—on humans.
Meet the Artist is an ongoing series of conversations between exhibiting artists, the curatorial team, and sometimes invited guests at Wave Hill. Meet the Artist offers visitors, the artist’s community, and others an opportunity to gain insight into the artist’s creative process and the themes present in their work.
This project was supported, in part, by a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant.

Hyunjin Park is a Korean interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in Brooklyn, NY, and Seoul, South Korea. Working across performance, video, installation, and sculpture, Park explores the emotional impact of the non-human—plants, living creatures, and machines—and how their affective impact unsettles distinctions between the ancient and the modern, life and death, and the human and non-human. She has held solo exhibitions in Korea at Gallery OOOJH and Gallery Chamber in Seoul, as well as at Openspace Bae in Busan. Park has also presented work in group exhibitions at the Total Museum and Onsugonggan in Seoul, and at Hui Gallery in Hong Kong, among others. She earned an MFA from the Cornell College of Architecture, Art, and Planning in Ithaca, NY, and an MFA and BFA in painting from Seoul National University, South Korea.
