Vines defy gravity and pull their weight up and over structures by winding, twining or holding on to their surroundings. Some species squeeze a little tight and this apparent rudeness has garnered a bad reputation for vines. Let's take a closer look at these climbing mechanisms and habits to give us a better idea of controlling these gorgeous, sometimes burly plants.

Severe weather cancels.

About the Plantwise Walk Series:
A series led by Jess Brey, Wave Hill’s Senior Horticultural Interpreter, each “walk and talk” will focus on a specific group of plants, encouraging a deeper relationship with some of the special plants that grow at Wave Hill. Topics explored may be nomenclature, ethnobotany, history and plant culture, such as pruning, germination and propagation. As the series title indicates, this is a program for the curious; adult participants with some plant knowledge will get the most out of these programs.

Walks follow a variety of routes along mixed-material pathways and varying elevations.
