Bring a friend and get in the festive spirit as you create a natural wreath using fresh greens harvested by Wave Hill gardeners while enjoying a glass of mulled wine or hot cocoa. Design your own stunning winter decorations using simple techniques shared by designer Hanako Shimamoto. Gift your one-of-a-kind wreath to a loved one or take it home as a memento from your creative night out at Wave Hill.
No experience necessary! Adults 21+ only. Materials and one drink are included in the ticket price. Additional drinks and specialty menu items are available for purchase from The Café.

This workshop is in Armor Hall and accessible to all participants with varying mobility. Chairs are provided, yet optional. Participants will use pruners and scissors to cut greens, arrangement of materials on wreath base may require dexterity of hands. A short demo will be led over speaker.

Hanako Shimamoto
Hanako Shimamoto was born in Kyoto, Japan and moved to NYC in 1992 to pursue a career as a floral designer. She gained 16 years of experience as a full-time designer at an upper east side florist and has a 4th Term Master certificate in Ohara style Ikebana. Since 2012 she has worked as a freelance designer at various event companies in NYC. Currently she is expanding her job skills into gardening and is frequently seen observing and photographing plants at Wave Hill.
