Many woodland wildflowers, or “spring ephemerals,” take advantage of the sunlight to bloom before trees leaf out in the spring. Join Gardener Kyla Dippong as she draws your attention to these and more gems and their value in the overall design of a wooded garden.

Severe weather cancels. Advance registration encouraged, online or by calling 718.549.3200 x251. Day-of registration based on availability and not guaranteed. Space is limited.

Questions? Please email us at information@wavehill.org or call the telephone number and extension above.

Walks follow a variety of routes along mixed-material pathways and varying elevations.

Gardener Kyla Dippong specializes in sculpting naturalistic perennial gardens, an art she developed over her career as a professional gardener at institutions across New York City such as The Battery Conservancy, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and The High Line. In 2019 Kyla returned to Wave Hill, where she was a John Nally Intern in 1996. At Wave Hill she gardens in the Shade Border, balancing the aesthetics of native and exotic species growing in a linear space.
