Family Birding
Embark on an avian adventure with Hannah Kirshenbaum from NYC Queer Birders on this special family bird walk during our EagleFest® celebrations. Learn all about the different traits and behaviors that make bald eagles so special as you search the skies and trees for eagles and other winter birds. Ages five and older welcome with an adult.
A limited number of binoculars, monoculars and walking sticks are available to borrow at the Perkins Visitor Center.

Walks follow a route along mixed-material pathways with varying elevations. A limited amount of walking sticks are available to borrow. Pace varies from a slow walk to moderate walk throughout.

Hannah Kirshenbaum
Hannah Kirshenbaum is an avid birder, horticulturist, and advocate of the natural world. In 2020, they founded NYC Queer Birders as a way to cultivate community and explore the natural world of New York City with LGBTQIA+ bird-lovers. Through all seasons, Hannah leads educational birding events in all five boroughs and beyond. They love to welcome all bird enthusiasts, regardless of experience. Through their work as an urban horticulturist, they are devoted to cultivating beneficial ecosystems that are passionately influenced by their love of birds. Hannah's favorite bird is a Ruby-crowned kinglet because they are so adorable and you're lucky if you get to see their ruby crown!
