For the Birds
March through May, 2018
Where birds thrive, people prosper. As a flyway for migrating birds, Wave Hill welcomes more than 120 species, many making our ecosystem their home. This spring, we celebrate how vital these avian residents are not just to a healthy ecosystem, but to the pleasures of the landscape, as well. From a new exhibition in Glyndor Gallery to hands-on workshops and a special weekend devoted to birds, the season will offer myriad opportunities to engage with naturalists, educators and artists and learn more about the birds with whom we share the garden environment.
In Glyndor Gallery, Avifauna: Birds + Habitatshows the work of 11 artists delves into the relationship between birds and their habitats, while Gabriel Willow's installation Ecolegiac: Missing Birds of NYC in Wave Hill House's Tea Room, imagines some of the now-missing bird species that have been—figuratively and literally—drawn back to New York City.
