A public garden & cultural center

Mother's Day

May 14, 2017

A Sunday in mid-May, in a garden as deeply loved as Wave Hill, is the perfect setting for celebrating Mom: think birding, perhaps a plein-air session of yoga, a visit to the Family Art Project and a superb brunch in historic Armor Hall—or a picnic on the Conifer Slope, a special Mother’s Day opportunity! Finish the visit on a Family Nature Walk, and a stop in The Shop to admire the handcrafted, sustainable gifts produced by in-store vendors Lovewild Design and Spur Jewelry

Spur Jewelry is the brainchild of Riverdale-raised Brooklynite Simone Paasche, who works closely with local casters and stone-setters to design and produce each piece in her collection, inspired by physical and imagined adventures, with a playful touch. Meant for everyday use, her jewelry uses only the finest materials and ethically sourced stones and pearls.

The two seatings of Mother’s Day Brunch are already wait-list only, but, in addition to The Café itself, exclusive Wave Hill caterer Great Performances will offer four different gourmet lunchbox menus, with a mix of vegan and gluten-free options. Place your order by Tuesday, May 9, by emailing wavehillreservations@greatperformances.com, or calling 718.549.3200 x395. If you bring your own picnic, kindly remove everything you bring—and leave the barbecue equipment at home.

As always, the picnic area adjacent to Glyndor Gallery will be available. And--just this weekend--we invite you to picnic on the Conifer Slope below Wave Hill House. Please help us care for the gardens by not picnicking elsewhere.  One blanket per family.

This special Sunday, admission to the grounds is $10 adults, $6 students and seniors 65+, $4 children 6–18. As always, admission is free to Wave Hill Members and children under six. Reciprocal benefits, guest passes and family passes are not accepted on Mother’s Day.
